Holy Guacamole!!

CIMG0763 CIMG0767

There’s this amazing Mexican restaurant around the corner from the hotel I stay at in NYC (Columbus and W67th)…of all things to look forward to when visiting this amazing city, it’s the guacamole made at your table that I have been dreaming about. Look how beautifully it’s served! Guacamole…food of the gods as far as I’m concerned. Do you love it as much as I do? What’s your special ingredient? Do share!

I love guacamole!! I got a recipe from a cooking show on PBS (maybe America's Test Kitchen??) a while back, and I use it all the time. No special ingredients, really -- avocados, lime juice, jalapeno peppers, salt, pepper, cumin... I think that's it. I keep it chunky instead of mashing up all the avocados.

I recently started eating cubed avocado with warm grape tomatoes as a simple salad. Yummy :-)

We try to get daughter #2's boyfriend over to our house to make it. He knows how to select the avocados and he smushes them with his bare hands.

Mmm. Guacamole is one of my favorite foods! I made a batch last Saturday for a gathering at my house and puposefully saved a small bowlfull in the back of the fridge to have for myself the next day. (that's not wrong, right?) Can you believe somebody found it and it was GONE when I went to look for it! So disappointing!!

I think I have been to this place - what is the name of it again? It is the BEST guac in the world!

I love really good, fresh guacamole! I think my receipe may be from this restaurant via Martha Stewart!!! I like the avocado cut vs mashed. My little twist...I use both a squeeze of lemon and lime juice!

I love it when you find a place that has something incredible that you want to go back for! My secret ingredient? Pico de Gallo! (chopped tomatoes, onions, cilantro). A little salt & pepper and wala! Perfection! Always a hit at my parties!

Food from my culture! Yum!

Do you know that avocados are originally from Mexico and that the word Aguacate means big testicle in Nahuatl (lol) :)

Never made guacamole (I know, I know it is simple...) but I love it whenever I have a chance (no cilantro and no jalapeno for me though). Enjoy NYC and looking forward to see you when you are back. Ciao.

Being a California girl....I love guac! That display looks like Rosa Mexicano's guac here in ATL!

When I make it...it's just smashed avacados, garlic, fresh lemon and salt! Mmmmmmm!
