A Florida Escape

tropical deck MMID

I love thinking outside of the box as a designer, so when Gwen asked me to give her some ideas for the deck of the new home they are planning near Islamorada, I was thrilled. The solution…custom outdoor wicker, foam and white slipcovers with citrus and deep sea blue toss cushions.  I’ve suggested flexible cubes and an Eames Lounge to break the straight lines of the sectional; it also takes a nod from their modern style. A NanaWall system creates the seamless indoor/outdoor lifestyle Floridians are so known for (and what brought Gwen here- thanks NanaWall). You can see my indoor/outdoor office design using the system here.

So very impressive. What a stunning place to while away the hours. To blur that line from inside to out is a dream.

This is going to require a site visit before winter is over.

What a fantastic place this would be to just kick back and relax in the sun! It also looks like the perfect envirnment to entertain. Love the glass walls. Wonderful work as usual, Michelle!

Florida has the perfect climate to use Nana doors. They seamlessly connect the indoor and outdoor spaces. We've used them on several projects here in Los Angeles. Great product.

Wonderful job Michelle!
