Below: Gary Hutton and the Modern by Design Showhouse- Katiedid posted this great series on the showhouse. The dots on the wall are actually Swarovski “pearls”, and they represent seismic activity in North America. Very Cool! Thanks Katie! I also found this wall of toilet paper in a bathroom designed by Gary at Apartment Therapy…pictured below. He looks at the wall in a new way!
Below: Yabu Pushelberg, W- Blue Fin Restaurant- NYC Times Square, the next picture was taken by me a few years back…look at the great scale and juxtaposition of the wood wall and mobile…stunning! The staircase shows off anyone who dares to walk up.
Below: Rammed Earth Walls that continue inside- Patricia Gray did a great post about Rammed Earth Walls after her stop at a First Nations Winery in the Interior of BC…this one is in Tucson

Your pictures are breath taking! There is something about textured 3D walls that adds another dimension to a room. It really takes the concept of abstract art to a whole new level. I particularly like the rammed wall in Tuscany and the green walls in Paris. They are particularly environmentally friendly.
Great Post!!
The Blue Fin walls are spectacular and I am very partial to any vertical garden. Interesting to see what you can put on a wall.
Fantastic photos!! I was always wondering what the big hype was about walls paper and now I get it. The wood paneling from flicker is my favorite, I love the multiple level of depth. Also the carved wall from NYC looks like a rake finish, their was lots of talk about that finish in the decorative world a few years back. I agree with Patricia about the environmentally friendly and green walls.
I have always think that texture is more important than colour or other elements in design - Texture gives you that moment of presence, that 3d tactile quality that gives you a sense of belonging.
Great entry! Michelle
I am still here just to say how much I love your mixed media paintings. They will look great in most interiors.Brava.
I love it!
I just don't know if I can afford someone to dust off all of those nooks and crannies in that great texture. :)
Great post - I love textured walls and esp. the ones at Blue Fin. Very cool and great photos, Michelle!
I absolutely think that all of these are awesome and add so much interest. We actually have the modular art seen in the first picture at the sushi restaurant that I work at here in Michigan. Exciting to see that piece featured on here!
Wow, these are great ways to kick up your walls a notch or two. Or ten!!
I remember the picture of the staircase in the Blue Fin Restaurant from your post about mobiles. It's so awesome!! The walls with the butterflies and the crystals are so pretty. And I love the natural look and feel of the wood slat walls.
