Things That Make my Life Easier…1. Great Tear Sheets

1. Great Tear Sheets

There is nothing more frustrating than than companies who don’ let you download images, don’t offer tear sheets, or even worse- they make the images out of the range of my snag-it tool! My word of advice to them is to be designer friendly…make it easy for us! Spec sheets…well that’s another post…sometimes they are a novel!

How do they expect us to specify them without printable information?

Oly does a great job…one of may who do- a nice little PDF, beautifully done to show to the client, with lots of white space for notes and sign-offs!

Thoughts?

Oooh, nice chair -- and love the name :-D

Yes, that looks like a great tear sheet. I don't understand why all companies don't provide information in this format, or make their images downloadable. If they're concerned about copyright infringement or something, can't they just put a watermark over the image??

I use SnagIt all the time and I've never had a problem capturing an image. What kind of problem(s) do you have??

I LIKEY....beautifully done tear sheet. I agree that in this day and age EVERYTHING should be online as well as the option of a color one from the showroom.

I agree! I hope some online businesses read this post :)

I agree totally... and what I like about your example is the image of the chair is a great size, making it as easy as possible - from a photo - to get a sense of what the chair is like. When the images are tiny you just can't see the important detail.

I completely agree with you!! I haven't encountered a site where I couldn't snag something yet though. That's interesting (or are you saying it's impossible to get it clean without other stuff around it)

Love that dining chair!

The Snag It tool will only get what you snag, then you have to format it all to one single page...most of the valuable info does not make it into the window...finish choices, name, product number, etc., so it's not a spec sheet, nor is it a spec document.

If they don't provide one, I sometimes print out the whole page, but you get allot of extra stuff, and a small picture. A tear sheet is an industry standard which I always use when one is available. Alico also does a great job with their sheets.

I'm sooo with you!

I'm working on a project for the hospital here and the photos of the chairs I need are all "copyright protected" on the manufacturer's site and turn into grey squares when I try to use them...

I am reading..as a manufacturer of furniture, i know all to well the importance of the "save" feature. And what a beautiful tear sheet to have available right there ! Oly has a very design friendly site. I'll have to keep that in mind for my next Website revamp..:-)
