I put this room together on Polyvore…it’s really fun…and after playing with it, I think it could be a great tool for a quick design board for a a client. I posted a couple of clothing combos a few weeks back, then received an email reminding me that, as an interior designer, I may find the furniture file interesting, and they were right! I visited there today…and…well…I’m impressed! You can import pictures from your blog and furniture websites, and it’s really intuitive.
I like this watery blue and orange palette. The art and lamp are whimsical and pick up the burnt orange of the stool. The dining room table is an unexpected piece, but the scrolls pick up the scrolls in the area rug, which is transitional, and allows the marriage of old and new pieces. The fireplace surround, wing chair and buffet lamps keep us grounded in history. I’d use oak on the floors, to compliment the orange tones, and silk draperies in light blue, black or charcoal (or a combo).
For sources, go to Polyvore, or just open this set.

Uh-oh...looks like something I could easily become addicted to!
I love the colour palette you used!
Oh Michelle....I love this. I am going to have to carve out a block of time to "play" on the site. Have a super Sunday!
This is so cool, Michelle. This would really give a client the feel of the whole room.
Love what you picked!
I'm off to play.

Great suggestion and I really love the combination of colours and styles.
I tried out Polyvore once, but I didn't have much success with it. After seeing this great board you came up with, I have to go try it out again!!

How fun! I have a tech question. How can you import fabric swatches? When I tried the program eliminated most of the color/pattern since there was no white background.
cemaya,
in the polyvore editor, there is a button that toggles the background removal. by default, the background is removed and this causes weird artifacts in cases such as yours. simply select the item, click the 'hide bg' button and it will toggle to 'show bg'.
enjoy :)
pasha (from polyvore).
Thanks Pasha!!
Thank you Pasha!
I recently discoverd Polyvore myself, thanks to another blogger I'm following! I like it, especially since sometimes clients want to get a proposal and all via email.
Hi Michelle
Thanks for the source. It looks like a great tool.
I like everything in the image - We have such great taste ;)
Can you tell me where I could purchase the rug and stool?
Thanks
