Shush up your Space….

condo west coast blue

Don’t resign to the sad, typical condo layout of leather furniture and area rugs that are too small…use built in millwork, the correct proportions, slipcovers and a mix of styles to make it YOU. Isn’t that what it’s all about…YOU? Do in once, and do it right…The Moorage…concept dwg of a two bedroom condo.

The Moorage Display Suite

The developers who built the Moorage condos in Ucluelet are quality builders. Sometimes builders just particle board a building together to minimum code, with budget driven materials (meaning cheap). Not these guys…there is a quality of work under the drywall that you cannot see. The building references a nautical past, when the town was just a series of boardwalks for fisherman. Long Beach is only 15 minutes away, but a series of hidden beaches around Ucluelet give you the seclusion it’s known for. This show suite was a project I did with local resources and on a shoestring budget, but with some built-in millwork and a plumper budget, you can personalize the space like this-

or more modern, like this…

With a location like this…it’s the perfect getaway close to Vancouver

It’s a place where landscapes like this-

inspire you to create things like this-

So, imagine, after a day at the beach collecting shells, kicking back in this chair…looking at this view…hmmm, life is good.

penthouse update, storm watching, christmas decorating

I am spending this weekend in Ucluelet, looking after a client's house while they are in Vegas. This has given me a chance to check on the Penthouse progress at the Moorage. These are private clients separate from the Moorage contract. It's coming along beautifully.

Sometimes it's the collaboration with the client that gets the best results. They have a very European aesthetic, and I had to get my head around what they wanted, and keep resale value in mind. The result is a very trim and moulding heavy look, with dark marbles and a 48"medallion in the entry. You can see the dwgs I did a few months ago here.

You've seen the home where I am staying many times on my blog, and know the client and I have become close friends. While they are away, I am decorating the house for Christmas; here are some pics of my progress. It's a great house to decorate, and with fir, cedar, spruce and pine readily available, it has been lots of fun.

Last night the storm watching (and listening) was amazing...you can never get the full feeling from pictures, but you can imagine the sound of the ocean. There was such a storm, that the outdoor microphone was crackling and moss and pine cones were hitting the windows :0

Today, I sit, on the edge of a continent, facing the sea, listening to Carla Bruni, typing a blog entry and drinking a diet coke.

Life is good

Interior of Moorage Display Suite
I have been out of the loop a bit lately because of a new project. I am doing a show suite in Ucluelet. Here are a few pics...my scope is the display suite and lighting for the units. I have started some lists, and am at that stage where there are plans to make; contracts and budgets to write and shopping to do. The install is at the end of the month, and so is Evan's grad, so that should be fun.
