#2 Greet’s Office – The Video Tutorial

Greets Office

Rendering by Michelle Morelan, 2010

Interior Design by Lefevre Interiors and Greet Lefevre of the Blog Belgian Pearls

greet library

For this tutorial, we are working from photo. This office/library designed by Greet Lefevre has deep shadows and fine liner work, because of the panelling, which also requires some lighting and wood graining techniques. Don’t be afraid of dark shadows; they will give your drawing dimension. And be a little looser in applying your colour and pen weights- that’s the charm of a hand drawing.

Also, sometimes a gesture of an object is better than too much detail. Just like Interior Design, you read it as a gestalt, not as individual objects.

#2 Greet's Office from Schematic Life on Vimeo.

You can watch it in full screen mode by clicking the arrows beside vimeo :) It’s recorded in HD, so keep the HD on.

You are truly amazing. You make it look so easy, yet having done some full rendering in design school, I know it's not.

You did a great job talking and drawing. I just finished a rendering of a cafe near my house in Oostkapelle and ran into some of the problems you talked about. What to draw and what not to draw, that is the question. Glad I found you through Belgium Pearls!

Michelle, it is always great to see your drawings and hear you talking about how you do them is a super bonus. Yours is such a refined skill I would never be able to achieve but your lessons give me an inspiration to continue trying.

MIchelle, your rendering video is fabulous. I render for clients but my last rendering class was over a decade ago so it is so helpful. Love your work. thanks again.

Thank You! I love interior schematics and just saw the Albert Hadley renderings at Gerald Bland Gallery in NYC. I think you would love his wife's renderings, Mita Corsini Bland, on the website. She illustrated the new Sister Parish Book. I'll be posting about this during the week and will be sure to include one of your amazing drawings!
