Above: The New Richmond Skating Oval- the ceiling has been signed by thousands of elementary school children from the area, so they can always go back and see a part of themselves  in the architecture and the event…I thought it was a great idea!

The new Canada Line train takes you from inside the airport into Richmond Center, or Downtown.

The new Link building is where the Canada Line picks you up, and gets you into the city in 30 minutes! Bags and all! What a concept…we are now a real city!

Sidenote: I worked at the architecture firm when the interior of the link building was being developed. That’s a glowing strip down the side of the totem, and the ceiling  panels are to mimic the aurora borealis. My opinion is quite strong about this project, so I will keep it to myself.

Maybe a room at the Loden Hotel? Ivan’s home away from home?

A delicious seafood dinner at the Blue Water Cafe?

I don't care for the interior of the link building. For some reason, neon strip lights and cartoony totem poles don't really work together.

The restaurant and hotel look so inviting!

My husband and I will be visiting Vancouver for a few days at the end of September. These pictures are adding to the excitement for our trip! Any recommendations for what we should see/do/eat? I'd appreciate any suggestions you may have!

Sincerely,
Natalie

Wow Michelle - the excitement must be building in your city!

I may be dating myself (OK I definitely am) but I remember the excitement in Montreal when they hosted (I was a little, little girl :)!).

Beautiful images!
