Around the House

CIMG9282  CIMG9280

Felix the Devo/Carmen Miranda cat…having fun with the kids last night…at the poor cat’s expense. I am sure he is thinking…”If I didn’t get the Fancy Feast and Temptations…well…I’d be outa here!” He loves it when my desk is filled with paper.

A new flower pot at the front door this year. For fall, I have found some great mums.  We painted the house last summer a dark gray, and installed new lighting and hardware.  Lots more to do…

I’m cleaning my office, and came across these dwgs I did for a B and B in Ucluelet. I love this type of quick sketch with minimal colour…I think they are great value for the client.

A few vignettes around the house. The first photo has a couple of my favourite things…a leather and silver box made and given to me by my friend Ivan, and my favourite piece of art “First at the Beach”.  I also love my new Voluspa candle and sea fan. The nude sculpture is by me; I did it at a class at the Florida Keys College. A cashmere throw in a grey blue is a favourite, as is the pillow I have covered in an Osborne and Little fabric. This side of my home has great light, and is now overflow space for my office.

Cleaning the files and office is reminiscent…these are from the very first ID project I did on my own out of school. I just ran into the client on the ferry a few days ago. I love little elevations…once I have elevations done in CAD, I can draw and sketch to scale.

My thesis project…the Salal Spa (now, that brings back stressful feelings!)

MMID_school thesis_watercolour

The Ucluth Lodge and Spa entry. I love watercolour for renderings, especially because the concept was watery. These are a couple I have decided to keep in a file, although I am trying to be brutal on the clutter this time around.

I’ve switched my DR and Family Room, and I like the cozy, step-down-into feeling of our new Family Room. We watched Under the Tuscan Sun yesterday, and it felt cozy in there. Some of my art is displayed on my red wall…I like them set all together.

What a dark September morning…I can really feel a change in the seasons.

The cleaning continues…

Thanks for showing us around. Good luck with editing and de-cluttering. I myself hired an organizer and she was b r u t a l....I think it is a wise investment!

I (also) can't believe you are showing us this. The sketches are better than photos. It helps me see and it's art. "And when a problem comes along, you must whip it."

I love this post!! It gives us a peek into your designs :-)

The renderings are great -- love the ones for the B&B :-) And your vignettes are inspiring -- I'm at the point now where I'm ready to dress & accessorize my home office, and I'm having a hard time figuring out what to do. I might be stealing some ideas from you!!

Hahhaha!! Poor Felix!! He looks like we was a good sport about it all, though :-)

Enjoyed looking around! And I just love the color of the exterior of your house.

I love how you say quick sketches! Thanks for giving me alittle tour of your space. I love cleaning out and am a bit neurotic about it....I work and feel better when things are orderly.
Have a great weekend.

I love the cozy area at the end of your post. I like the contrast of the red walls with the paintings and the bookcase too. It feels good to declutter! but it is so hard to make decisions.
